As a secondary content teacher with classes of newcomer English Learners, Pear Deck has become the tool I utilize most to support the various needs of my students. Pear Deck incorporates the technology of Immersive Reader which gives students access to a powerful set of tools with wide-ranging benefits that include translation support and self-scaffolding, a picture dictionary, allowing text to be read to them, and more. In this hands-on session participants will learn how to create dynamic synchronous and asynchronous Pear Deck lessons to support the language development needs of their students.

In this hands on session participants will learn

  • to create and share Pear Deck Lessons
  • how to enable Immersive Reader in Pear Deck for translation support
  • strategies using Pear Deck that promote reading, writing, listening, & speaking
  • provide live or asynchronous feedback
  • and much more!
