The shutdown of schools as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted a shift to distance learning. This shift has shed further light on the digital divide. Usually, when you think of the digital divide, we think of students who have the technology and support at home versus those who have no internet access and support at home. Often forgotten are those in the middle, the kids whose only internet access is their mobile phone.

Phone Friendly Design is geared toward providing access to educational opportunities for all students, especially those whose only internet access and device is a mobile phone. These sessions will provide tips, tricks and ideas for designing learning experiences that can be done 100% on a mobile device.

Participants will leave with strategies for using a variety of mobile edtech apps to teach in a distance learning environment taking into consideration students who only have internet access via a mobile device.

The workshop will be from October 13 - October 15, 2020 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm PST each day.
