From Overwhelmed to Empowered: Agentic AI for Leaders

Description: Something is shifting in how districts operate — and it goes beyond any single tool or initiative.

This working session helps school and district leaders make sense of that shift.

We begin with a keynote exploring Agentic

• AI: how it builds on and differs from Generative AI
• How organizations are already using it to streamline complex workflows
• What do the emerging AI Operating Systems for Schools (we will look at MagicSchool's for this example) signal about the near future of education?

From there, facilitated work guided by the Krause Center for Innovation invites leaders to examine their own systems and decision-making through the lens of agentic thinking, identifying where information gets stuck, where overload accumulates, and where AI can create space for the work only humans can do.

This is not a technology training. It's a leadership conversation about how we want to lead in an AI-shaped world.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Distinguish between Generative and Agentic AI and explain why that distinction matters for district planning and decision-making
2. Identify at least one area in your district where Agentic AI could reduce administrative overload and free up leadership capacity
3. Recognize how companies and districts are already leveraging Agentic AI to streamline workflows and what that means for workforce planning
4. Design a small, clear support structure for a real district challenge using agentic thinking, clarifying what should be monitored, what can be handled consistently, and where human judgment is irreplaceable
5. Articulate a leadership habit or practice they are ready to examine or shift in response to an AI-shaped environment
